The Church’s life and governance are grounded in Holy Scripture, the Anglican tradition, the Book of Common Prayer, the Thirty-Nine Articles, the Canons and the Constitution.
Holy Scripture is the inspired Word of God and the supreme foundation of Christian faith, doctrine and life. IACC upholds the Holy Bible as the authoritative guide for the Church, proclaiming Jesus Christ and shaping our worship, teaching, ministry and mission.
The Anglican tradition is a historic expression of the Christian faith, grounded in Holy Scripture and shaped by the worship, doctrine and life of the Church. IACC embraces the Anglican heritage through the Book of Common Prayer, the Thirty-Nine Articles, the Sacraments, ordered ministry and the historic faith of the Church, seeking to live out this heritage faithfully within the Indian context.
The Book of Common Prayer is a foundational expression of Anglican worship and devotion, providing the Church with an ordered pattern of prayer, worship and sacramental life.
The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion set forth the historic doctrinal position of the Church of England and provide an important foundation for Anglican faith, doctrine and ecclesiastical life.
IACC confesses the Christian faith revealed in Holy Scripture and expressed through the historic faith of the Church. We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; the Holy Spirit; the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the dead; and eternal life. Our faith is expressed through Scripture, Anglican worship, the Sacraments and faithful Christian living.
The Anglican tradition recognises Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist as the two Sacraments ordained by Christ, while also honouring Confirmation, Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation of a Penitent, Holy Orders, and the Anointing of the Sick within the sacramental life of the Church.
The Canons of IACC provide the ecclesiastical order, discipline and governance of the Church, establishing the principles and responsibilities by which its clergy, dioceses and ministries are to serve faithfully and orderly. The Approved Canons establish the responsibilities and governance of the Church and provide a clear framework for the ministry of clergy, the administration of dioceses and churches, and the orderly life and mission of IACC in accordance with its Constitution and Anglican tradition.
The Constitution of IACC establishes the ecclesiastical identity, governance, order and responsibilities of the Indian Anglican Church and Council. It provides the foundational framework for the Church’s leadership, ministries, councils, dioceses and corporate life, ensuring that IACC is ordered and governed with faithfulness, accountability and integrity.
